Standing and walking position.
Will help direct students to their seats. Seats are numbered. Student's walking cards will have seat numbers. This position will help them find their seat.
Standing, bending, and walking position.
This is a position that would be perfect for someone who is helping with student check-in and wants to help after the ceremony. Help with removal of walking numbers on the back of the chairs; remove gonfalons and flags; put up diploma tubes.
Faculty will walk down both the left and right aisle and will sit in the chairs on the ceremony floor in the back. Faculty marshals will be responsible for dividing faculty into two lines before the ceremony, leading them into the ceremony, and leading them out of the arena once the ceremony is finished.
These marshals will be positioned on the right side of the ceremony floor (if facing the stage). They will help students line up during the ceremony. Student traffic flows right to left (if facing the stage). This marshal will direct students from their seats to the sideline of the arena and prompt students when to walk to the Card Verifier.
These marshals will be positioned in the center of the quadrant that makes up the ceremony floor. This position will direct the left half of the ceremony floor to the right sideline to line up before walking across the stage. This position will work with the Right Marshals to help line up graduates.
This position is located on the left side of the stage and will direct students after they have walked across the “stage.” Students will need to be directed to Backstage Marshal for their official commencement ceremony photo.
This position is on the left of the ceremony space. These marshals will direct graduates back to their seats once graduates finish their photo. These marshals will also assist in helping graduates return and remain in their seats.
Volunteer positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. While we will make every effort to honor your preference, assignments are based on availability. If a position is full, you may be placed where additional volunteers are needed.
