Mythics
Mythics is a playing card deck designed around the theme of Greek and Chinese mythology. Storytelling has always been a way to bring people together, and the same can be said about card games. With this in mind, it only seemed natural to combine the two. This thesis showcases all the skills I have learned during the process of earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from 7M视频 such as typography, graphic design, and digital illustration.
I have always had an interest in global mythology and culture. While working on Mythics I did research into the origins of these stories and how others have chosen to represent these characters over time. Using these influences, I was able to create my own artistic interpretations. The result is an interactive piece that shares what I have learned with others. On display is the fully completed deck along with ten posters showing the eight major cards, the front cover design, and the pattern used for the card backing.
Mythics was created to both push my skills as a graphic designer and explore my interest in global mythology. The hope is that through interacting with Mythics others will gain an interest in these stories and begin to make their own mythological discoveries.
