Counseling – Proposing seven course changes

• Change Google Docs to Microsoft 360 – cannot use unapproved platforms
• Need to correct some grammar and spelling errors
• CNDV 5382 and 5388 and 5391 and 5395 and 5396 Asynchronous with a 5-day on-campus residency requirement
• 5295 Bereavement policy and grading in twice - duplication
• 5396 – can or cannot submit makeup work – states that cannot but has a policy of 10% off per day late – clarify if there is or is not opportunity for late and makeup work
• 5397 – can or cannot submit makeup work – states that cannot but has a policy of 10% off per day late – clarify if there is or is not opportunity for late and makeup work

CNDV 5388	Group Skills Residency	Fall 2025	This course is unique to the Clinical Mental Health Program, and provides content that is needed specific to this program for future accreditation pursuit.
CNDV 5391	Advanced Practicum	Fall 2025	Updating for new TEA and LPC requirements. Updating the course title to reflect the difference from CNDV 5390 Practicum.
CNDV 5395	Internship II	Fall 2025	Students have been taking CNDV 5394 as both an Internship I and Internship II course in this program. By establishing this new course, students will have new content that builds on the former.
CNDV 5396	Internship I in MCF Counseling	Fall 2025	To date, the MCF counseling program has not offered a unique internship course. This course will distinguish the internship course from other programs.
CNDV 5397	Internship II in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling	Fall 2025	To date, this program has shared an Internship II course with other programs. Creating this new course will distinguish the content to be specific to MCF counseling

Joint Cybersecurity Certificate – Following discussion, the Council voted to table this item in the February meeting and send it back to the department for revision and will reviewed it with the following changes:

Februrary revisions: 

1. Certificate Program Title
   1. The certificate needs a title.
2. Syllabus Structure and Consistency
   1. All syllabi should include clearly defined office hours (COSC 5304 and CPSC 5363 need specific hours rather than "by appointment")
   2. Ensure which assignments/examinations will be proctored in syllabi and denote that they will be proctored using Honorlock. (Note: Proctorio is no longer in use)
   3. Ensure alignment between catalog descriptions and course content (especially for CPSC 5363)
3. Learning Outcomes
   1. Revise outcomes to use consistent action verbs aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy
   2. Ensure outcomes are measurable and directly connected to assessments
   3. Recommend adding mapping between outcomes and specific assessments in all syllabi
4. Assessment Methods
   1. Recommend to include clear rubrics for all major assignments
   2. Recommend to standardize late policy and make-up work policies across courses
5. Content and Alignment
   1. Ensure course content aligns with Knowledge Units (KUs) specified in the certificate proposal
   2. If necessary, update COSC 5304 to match the certificate's programming foundations requirements
   3. Expand CPSC 5363's weekly outline to match the 8-week format used in other courses (if it should be 8 week)
6. Certificate Program Structure
   1. Consider adding prerequisites for advanced courses like CPSC 5362 if necessary
   2. Ensure scheduling allows students to complete required courses within certificate timeframe
7. Accreditation Standards Inconsistency
   1. Some syllabi (MISY courses) mention AACSB accreditation while others don't reference any standards
   2. The cybersecurity certificate references CAE-CD standards, but this isn't consistently mentioned across all syllabi
8. Textbook Currency
   1. COSC 5304 uses an 11th edition textbook but doesn't specify publication year
   2. CPSC 5361 references a 2014 and a 2012 textbook that may need updating given rapid changes in secure software practices
   3. Consider evaluating all textbooks for currency (within 3-5 years)
9. Suggestions re: Assessment Weighting Imbalances
   1. CPSC 5361 weights the final exam at 60% with minimal ongoing assessment
   2. COSC 5304 and COSC 5365 lack sufficient formative assessments before major exams
   3. Consider balancing formative preparation prior to summative evaluation
10. Recommendations re: Incomplete Course Outlines
    1. COSC 5304 provides only topic headings without weekly schedule
    2. Several syllabi lack specific dates for assessments and major assignments
